Water Loss Management
Strategies
15 - 19th May 2006
Genova, Italy
Background
The
International Water Association’s (IWA) Water Loss Task
Force (WLTF) is the water industries pre-eminent group
examining the issues of demand management, leakage
control and pressure management.
The WLTF
incorporates more than 70 representatives from more than
15 countries around the world.
To assist the
World’s water industry to move forward with these issues
the WLTF has developed a series of technical papers, a
common terminology and reporting framework and self help
tools such as software and information
booklets.
In Italy, water
loss levels range from 20-60% of total system input
volumes.
In May, the
Water Loss Task Force has agreed to hold a series of
meetings and workshops in Italy.
Fondazione AMGA
in conjunction with key industry organisations such as
FederUtility (Italian Water Association) and the
International Ferrara H2O Fair will be ensuring that
these meetings assist in increasing industry awareness,
understanding and implementation of water loss
strategies.
Proposed
Program
It is proposed
that the visit of the Water Loss Task Force (WLTF) will
incorporate the activities described in the attached draft
programme with the aim of transforming industry
practice regarding demand management, water loss

Collaboration of Leakage Specialists, Water Utilities
and Regulators to improve Water Systems Efficiency" and
is futher described in the draft
